I have over ten years of teaching experience and I teach jewellery making classes from my studio at Edinburgh Palette, 151, London Road, Edinburgh. EH7 6AE

There are eight jewellery benches in my studio and plenty of jewellery equipment. I teach a range of classes from 7 to 10 week beginner courses,  intermediate  courses, 1 and 2 day weekend workshops, one to one tuition as well as open studio days when benches can be hired by the hour.

Gift vouchers are available (+£2.50 P&P). Minimum amount £25.

Silver jewellery making: All levels

Silver jewellery making: Beginners

Tuesdays 7 - 9pm.                  9th Jan - 27th March '18 (excl  13th Feb & 6th March)   10 weeks

These 8 and 10 week courses will introduce basic silver jewellery making techniques to the complete beginner, as well as further techniques to the intermediate student.

I will teach you new skills using copper and silver, demonstrating techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering, roll printing and finishing metals. I will also show you how to make a simple bezel setting for a cabochon stone. We will initially work together covering various techniques; making a ring, pendant and a pair of earrings or cufflinks. You will then have one to one guidance enabling you to confidently create your own piece of jewellery.

For those who have already mastered the basics, i can show you more challenging techniques or you are free to work on ongoing projects with guidance where necessary.

There is no need to buy anything in advance, however you will need to purchase materials for your own projects. I will discuss this with you during the class.

Please bring a pencil and sketchbook.

Coffee and tea is available.


Please note: The car park is not available to use during the day, however there is free parking near the building. For the evening class, the carpark is available to use.


Make a stone-set silver pendant. (1 day workshop)

Sunday 26th November   10 - 3pm

Sunday 4th February '18  10 - 3pm

£50 (includes all materials)


This workshop is suitable for all levels, no previous experience required.

To make a silver pendant with a cabochon stone you will be shown jewellery making techniques such as cutting, filing, roll printing, soldering and bezel setting in silver. You will create a pendant to take home at the end of the day. 

Tea and coffee is included but please bring lunch.

Open studio days:

Sun 17th Dec 

On these days I will be in the studio from 10am - 6pm. The benches and equipment can be hired for you to work on your own projects for £5 per hour, to be paid in advance. Let me know how long you require a bench and I can reserve it for you.

Please note: These are not teaching sessions. You must be of a suitable level to not require supervision.

Bracelet making workshop (2 day workshop)

Sunday 11th & Sunday 18th February '18.  10 - 3pm

£100 (This does not include the price of the silver)

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience.

You will be making a silver bracelet over the two days. You will learn how to measure, cut, shape, solder, file and decorate wire rings to create a unique, eye-catching bracelet of your own design. You will be shown a range of techniques enabling you to pattern, texture and finish your bracelet. You will be shown how to make a simple and effective T-bar catch to complete your design.

The silver required to make your bracelet will be available to purchase in class and charged by weight. (approx £25)

Tea and coffee is included but please bring lunch.

Make a silver spinner ring (1 day workshop)

Suitable for all levels, no previous experience necessary.

You will learn how to size your finger then cut, file, texture and shape silver, enabling you to create a tactile, unique ring.

Extra silver required can be purchased in class.

Make a Russian wedding ring (1 day workshop)

Sunday 29th October   10 - 3pm

Sunday 21st January '18 10 - 3pm

£55 (this includes the price of the silver)

Traditionally, Russian wedding rings are three interlocking bands of rose, white and yellow gold symbolising the past, present and future of the couple.

In this workshop you will make three sterling silver rings creating a ring based on this unusual design. You will be provided with the silver required and learn how to size, saw, shape, solder and finish your ring.

This workshop is suitable for all levels including complete beginners.

Make a stone set ring (1 day workshop)

Sun 25th Feb '18     £50 

£50 (this includes the price of the silver)

During this workshop you will learn how to make a silver ring and a bezel setting for a cabochon stone. You will be shown how to solder the two together to create a unique stone set ring. You will learn basic jewellery making techniques such as sawing, filing and soldering, as well as trickier ones such as sizing and stone setting.

This workshop is suitable for all levels, including the complete beginner.

Tea and coffee is provided but please bring lunch.

Bookings are taken on a first come, first served basis and require payment in advance to secure your place. For payment options please email me: leahbastiani@gmail.com

Leah Bastiani Jewellery reserves the right to cancel courses if the circumstances dictate, or if there are fewer than 3 students enrolled. If this happens you will be offered an alternative class or a full refund.

Should you need to cancel your place on any class, it must be done at least 2 weeks prior to the class starting to receive a full refund. If a place is cancelled a week prior to the class starting you will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given if a cancellation is made in the week  leading up to the first class.

All persons must have full use of their eyes and hands for all classes. Any impairment which might affect you or the class must be made known to Leah Bastiani Jewellery prior to booking to determine suitability to the class and whether any special requirements need to be made.

Health and safety:

At all times, instructions of the tutor must be followed. Failure to do so may result in injury to self or third party and could result in being asked to leave the class permanently without a refund. Leah Bastiani Jewellery has the right to remove any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs from the class permanently, without a refund.
